Heading back to College

Gotta love that time when you get out of school for the summer - - - but then in just a few weeks you're back at it. Well, my summer was quite short. I took 13 hours of classes from May to July, and then got just 2 weeks off before having to return for another 17 hours of Fall semester.

My question - when did summers get so short? City schools (elementary, middle, high) start way too early now a days. I remember back in middle school we didn't till after Labor Day!! What happened to those longs summers?! I'm sorry Generation Panic, I guess you have to suffer for all of our past experiences with what the experts called "Summer Brain Loss" or whatever they call it. I wish you got to experience the 3 months or so of summer that we once had.

And while I'm on summer - what ever happened to kids having recess and PE classes? Are Americans that worried that 45 minutes of PE or recess might make the kids have fun at school? After I got out of middle school, I heard that my community was doing away with recess time and replacing it with a "reading period." How lame! Kids have to have a few minutes here and there in order to have a "mental fart" and just be kids!

Anyways, I'm heading back to my college town. I'll post later. WOOOHO for the olympics tonight! Todd & Phil play at like 9ish and Michael swims sometime afterwards. I'm so pumped!
